Community news -  What's on this month

We've been looking at lots of ideas that everyone in the village can participate in whilst we are continuing to isolate and social distance. Here's a few ideas on how you can get involved in community activities.

Life under lockdown

History in the making
There will be a permanent set of pages on this website to record our activities and life during the COVID 19 lockdown.
This weeks focus is on the young people of the village, their own pictures, stories, activities and understanding of a situation that has made life very different from the usual routine. We'd love to record their contributions and you can find suggestions for themes and activities with this link.  Young People in Lockdown

Filling the village with sunshine

Picture
From towering giant sunflowers to dwarf varieties grown in pots we've all got room for a little sunshine in our lives. There are so many varieties of sunflower, attracting pollinators whilst in bloom and then left in the autumn for the birds to snack on.
Help us fill the village with sunshine this summer by helping yourself to the tub of community sunflower seeds in the Church gate community larder. A great activity for young and old alike, it definitely ticks a lesson box for home schoolers!

VE Day 75th Anniversary

Picture
The early May Bank Holiday Monday was  moved to Friday 8th May to coincide with the 75th anniversary of VE Day.  With public celebratory events cancelled  St Germans joined the rest of the country in marking the occasion by having  'Stay at Home Street Parties'.
Houses and gardens were decorated in Red, White & Blue and many picnicked in their gardens, there might even have been the odd sing a long! We've managed to capture many photographs on the day but would love to see more to add to our History in the making pages!    Picture gallery
